You can either create a VPN profile on your own or set up a work account to get a VPN profile from your company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If it\u2019s for work, look for VPN settings or a VPN app on your company\u2019s intranet site\u00a0while you\u2019re at work, or contact your company&#8217;s support person.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If it\u2019s for a VPN service you subscribe to for\u00a0personal use, visit\u00a0the Microsoft Store\u00a0to see if there\u2019s an app for that service,\u00a0or go to the VPN service\u2019s website to see if the VPN connection settings to use are listed there.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have your work or personal VPN settings ready:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Settings app\u00a0\u00a0on your Windows device,\u00a0select\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u00a0<strong>Network &amp; internet\u00a0<\/strong>>\u00a0<strong>VPN<\/strong>\u00a0>\u00a0<strong>Add VPN<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under\u00a0<strong>Add a VPN connection<\/strong>, do the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to edit the VPN connection info or specify additional settings, such as proxy settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the VPN settings page, select\u00a0the VPN connection you want to edit,\u00a0select<strong>\u00a0Advanced options<\/strong>, then select\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>\u00a0next to the details you want to update. Once you&#8217;ve made the updates needed select either\u00a0<strong>Save<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ID0EFDBBBBDDD\">Connect to a VPN<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When&nbsp;you have a VPN profile, you\u2019re ready to connect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On your taskbar, select the\u00a0<strong>Network, Volume, Battery\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0icon >\u00a0<strong>VPN<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have one VPN configured, you can turn\u00a0it on and off by toggling the left side of the\u00a0<strong>VPN\u00a0<\/strong>quick setting, marked with a\u00a0(1), below.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/images\/en-us\/3e367ebd-fcde-460a-afb3-bc852124c97a\" alt=\"The quick settings VPN toggle in Windows 11.\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there are multiple VPNs configured, you will need to select one to connect to. Select\u00a0<strong>Manage VPN connections\u00a0<\/strong>(marked with a (2) in the image),\u00a0select\u00a0the one you want from the list of connections, and then select\u00a0<strong>Connect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If prompted, enter your username and password or other sign in info.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Settings app\u00a0\u00a0on your Windows device,\u00a0select\u00a0<strong>Network &amp; internet\u00a0<\/strong>>\u00a0<strong>VPN<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next to the VPN connection you want to use, select\u00a0<strong>Connect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If prompted, enter your username and password or other sign in info.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ID0EDBBBBBDDD\">Verify VPN connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the VPN settings page,\u00a0the VPN connection name will\u00a0display\u00a0<strong>Connected\u00a0<\/strong>underneath it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the taskbar, a blue shield will display\u00a0when you&#8217;re connected to a recognized VPN.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Support for Windows 10 has ended on October 14, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10.
